She became the first Filipina to win a Paralympic medal when she won bronze at the 2000 Summer Paralympics. ==Early life== Adeline Dumapong was born in Kiangan, Ifugao to a family of six children. Her father was a mid-level government employee who has limited resources to support the family. She contracted polio when she was three years old and both of her legs had to be amputated.
